Scope
Full kitchen design, in-frame cabinetry, Aga specification, stone and tile programme
A converted oast house in the Weald of Kent asked for a kitchen grown from the soil of the county — sage-painted shaker fronts, original terracotta tiles recovered from a barn demolition, a four-oven Aga in cream, and a ceiling so high it required a custom-designed plate rack spanning eight feet. It is a kitchen for feeding a harvest.
The sage was mixed by a paint studio in Whitstable using raw pigments; the batch was large enough to touch up the cabinetry in twenty years. The recovered terracotta tiles were cleaned, re-laid in a traditional pattern, and sealed in linseed oil. Every drawer is cedar-lined to protect the linen stored inside.
