Scope
Kitchen design, two-tone painted and veneered cabinetry, marble island, brass details, installation
Soft sage-painted upper cabinets over warm walnut-veneered lower units — a two-tone palette derived from the garden outside rather than the catalogue. The pairing references the natural world without referencing a period: it is equally at home in a Victorian New Town flat as it would be in a rural retreat.
The sage was mixed by eye at our yard, referencing the specific grey-green of the eucalyptus outside the client's kitchen window. The walnut veneer was fumed for one week to warm its mid-tone, then finished in a hardwax oil that emphasises the grain rather than sealing it. Unlacquered brass hardware was specified throughout — the metal common to both materials, warm against both.

"The sage came from looking out of our window. Nobody had ever thought to do that before. It made the whole kitchen ours."
