Scope
Full kitchen design, sustainable material specification, reclaimed oak shelving, terrazzo worktops, installation
The brief arrived as a material manifesto: every surface must have a provenance. Sage green cabinetry in FSC-certified timber, worktops in poured terrazzo using aggregate from demolished local buildings, open shelving in reclaimed Victorian oak, recycled glass splashback panels backlit in warm amber. A kitchen that is fully contemporary in its thinking and deeply rooted in where it was made.
The terrazzo was mixed and poured on site, the aggregate drawn from a Victorian school demolished three blocks away. The shade — warm beige and coral — was derived from the local Queens clay. Integrated smart sensors monitor energy use, water consumption, and food storage conditions; the data surfaces on a discreet panel above the reclaimed oak dresser.
