Scope
Full kitchen design, in-frame cabinetry, Delft tile programme, marble island, aged brass hardware, installation
Deep burgundy red in-frame cabinetry, a hand-painted Delft tile splashback commissioned from a studio in Haarlem, and an aged oak island with a book-matched Calacatta marble top. The kitchen is rooted in English Georgian proportions but decorated with the kind of confidence that a collection of four centuries produces. It is not a period kitchen — it is a kitchen that has earned its period.
The Delft tiles were designed with the studio over six months, each motif drawn from the botanical illustrations in the client's inherited library. The burgundy paint was mixed from a recipe used by a West Country house painter in 1847 — the client discovered it in the house's archive. Aged brass hardware was individually antiqued by immersion in a solution of ammonia and salt over four weeks, giving each piece a different depth of patina.
